»I agree with the idea of trying to attract corporations that have a workforce centered around the 8-to-5 work day. The technology companies and defense contractors that serve Offutt AFB are a good place to start.

»As our city looks at creating a retail/dining experience in our downtown setting, it's important we make it pedestrian friendly. I agree that one crossing on first street probably isn't enough. It would be nice to have a cross walk closer to the library. Not only will this be helpful for the business district, it will also offer a safer area for students and adults to cross 84th St, rather than trying to run across and beat the cars.
»I don't think that raised crosswalks are necessary, but it would be nice to install dedicated crosswalk lights at 2nd Street (between D-Rocks and Runza). Having only one light at 1st street makes it difficult to cross by the library and other shops farther north.
»This is exactly what we are hoping for. My comment under the downtown incentive section supports the benefits of bringing more retail shops, restaurants, galleries & livly businesses that will create a wonderful venue for the city of Papillion. I totally agree it would be so nice to see people gather and families able to enjoy their evenings right her in Papillion.
»I totally agree. Anything the city can do to show new or existing businesses that they have confidence Papillion will offer them a great business opportunity,is a plus. Many different retail spaces have incentives in place to lure businesses to there area. What Papillion has, that these other locations are lacking, is the hometown feel. The Downtown section has so much potential to become a true retail destination, simular to the Old Market feel. With the addition of more retail shops, restaurants, galleries, etc,it could really turn into a fabulous location to frequent. I truly believe the residents of Papillion would enjoy and support this venture, rather that driving into Omaha or surrounding areas to dine or shop. I would love to see the city be able to gain new businesses by investing in this vision. it would be a win-win for everyone. Bringing new jobs, new businesses, financial gains, as well as people from surroundig communities coming to Papillion to shop, relax and enjoy!

»I am all for getting new businesses and restaurants in the downtown area, however, I don't want the incentives to bring these businesses to include raising taxes or the tax payers footing the tax bill for these businesses for some period of time. One way to grow the downtown is to support the businesses that are there and more will come.
»The only concern I have with this idea is the parking situation. Will this water feature take up precious parking for the downtown businesses?

»A lot of cities use the combination containers with trash on one side and recyclables on the other. Great idea!

    What kind of business would you guys like to see move in? I'd love a small little cafe of natural types of foods - similar to Blue Earth or McCormicks in Omaha. Something different that's not available in Ralston, La Vista, or Bellevue. My family would love to go play in the park and then walk over and have a quick bite. Plus it would offer a stark contrast to Runza, and the bar food available downtown. Or even a coffee shop, I know there is that little drive-thru by the gas station, but I would love to sit and have a coffee with other moms! We don't have anything like that around there. And although I love Starbucks, I'm thinking more of a mom & pop local one.

    On a side note, I'm disappointed that we couldn't support a "different" type business for Papillion - it was nice having a local tattoo shop.
